Castle Hotel, Conwy

History

Standing on the site of a Cistercian abbey and then two famous hostelries, The Castle and the 15th Century King's Head. The Castle was by far the larger and in Victorian times has had an attractive face lift of local granite and Ruabon brick and is now one of Conwy's most photographed buildings. It has played host to many famous people, such as Telford, Stephenson, Wordsworth and the Queen of Romania who lunched in the restaurant whilst visiting Llandudno.

The interior of the hotel has many interesting features and antiques. John Dawson-Watson, a distinguished victorian artist and illustrator spent his last days in Conwy, there is a significant collection of his work hanging in the hotel and especially in Dawson's Bar and Cuisine. 

Food & beverage

Full Welsh breakfast is served from 7.30am.

After a major upgrade, an eclectic menu to suit all tastes is served in both Dawson's Bar and Restaurant. This menu changes with the seasons and is complimented by an 'Early Bird' menu and a Sunday luncheon when local Welsh beef is always served. Also, during winter and spring months, Graham, Consultant Chef/Director and the Manager of the Welsh Culinary Team, creates a series of very special 'gourmet' menus, which when complimented by carefully selected wines, make truly memorable 'wine & food evenings'.

The food reflects all that is good about local Welsh produce, a real 'Taste of Wales' and the hotel's experienced team's non- fussy approach to the restaurant business. The order of the day, is good food served well, on hot plates, as quickly as possible!

All bedrooms have docking radios, flatscreen televisions, telephones, tea & coffee tray, ensuite bathrooms some with walk in showers or spa baths, hairdryers and Wi-Fi and premium/suite bedrooms also include Bose music systems and bathrobes.
