History

The cathedral city of Londonderry is located on the banks of Lough Foyle in the northwest of Northern Ireland. As one of the oldest inhabited places in Ireland the city has strong traditions and a wealth of culture, which combines with an active social scene to make the city an exciting place to live and study. The most visibly striking features of the city are its historic walls. Northern Ireland’s second largest city, Derry is sometimes referred to as the Maiden City since its walls were never breached during a siege in the late 17th century. It is the only remaining completely walled city in Ireland and one of the finest examples of a walled city in Europe today.

Food & beverage

Accommodation is provided on a self-catering basis although the Thyme Out restaurant is located in the main building of Magee campus and offers cooked breakfast, morning coffee, hot lunches, salads and snacks through out the day.

Due to the central location the Village is in easy walking distance to a number of high quality restaurants and pubs on the Strand Road and Banks of the River Foyle.
