Overview

A privately owned free house pub restaurant with bed & breakfast accommodation that has resided at the heart of the conservation village of Hinxton, Cambridgeshire (Suffolk / Essex border) since the 16th Century, and is run by landlord Alex Clarke.

This historic, Grade II listed building provides the perfect backdrop for enjoying fabulous food and drink, in the company of friends, family and colleagues. Exposed beams, well stoked fires and Chesterfield sofas invite you to stay a while and relax, while an impressive oak, dry peg extension is an elegant, spacious room in which to dine.

The eight stunning guest rooms are set apart from the rest of the pub, discretely positioned in the grounds for minimum impact on the main Grade II listed building, and enjoying their own private garden area. Bedrooms are individually furnished with wooden oak floors and furniture, handmade curtains and quality matresses and bedding. Each bedroom has a thermostat control and heated towels rails. There is a choice of five Super King (6ft) doubles/twins and three King (5ft) doubles. There are also two rooms that have an interconnecting door – ideal for families and carers.

Listed in The Good Food Guide, Good Pub Guide, Good Beer Guide and Near the Motorways and also awarded 4 AA Stars for the accommodation and an AA Rosette for their food.

We only stayed one night. The room was just fine, only issue is that the TV is extremely small, we didn't use it anyways. Instead we enjoyed the garden and the birds for relaxing. I would also like to recommend eating supper ther it was super high quality and very tasty. Thanks.
