History

Once the iconic Old Melbourne Hotel, RMIT Village was refurbished by 5-star hotel designers CHADA, whose projects have included Sydney’s Hilton Hotel and resorts in Hong Kong, India, Dubai and Fiji.

The 2005 refurbishment added a contemporary edge to the Village’s interiors and facilities, while preserving much of the Old Melbourne’s original charm.

Food & beverage

The on-site café serves a range of quick snacks as well as a varied lunch time menu, including:

• A selection of healthy smoothies
• Gourmet coffees
• Fresh muffins and pastries
• A daily choice of delicious specials

Opening hours: Mon – Fri, 6:00am to 4:00pm (excluding public holidays).

Other facilities

Business centre - the business centre provides access to wireless Internet, computers, printing and photocopying facilities 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Additional costs apply for these services.

Games room - the games room is located in a sunlit lounge called the Glasshouse. The Glasshouse features a pool table, table tennis, movies and a range of sport channels on Foxtel. The lounge is accessible 24 hours a day with your electronic swipe card and can be booked for private events.

Gym – the well-equipped gym offers a range of exercise equipment, including treadmills, a weight machine, cross trainer, exercise bikes, radio tuner, CD player and a 42 inch plasma TV with Foxtel.

Internet - high-speed Internet connectivity is available in each bedroom, as well as the on-site business centre. Internet credit can be purchased after check in. Charges apply.

Laundry - the laundry offers coin-operated washing machines and dryers, and can be accessed 24 hours a day via security card.

Moonlight cinema - the Village has the facilities to run outdoor movie nights – a great way to end your group’s busy day. Our staff are more than happy to assist you with enquiries and bookings.

Parking – limited parking is available on site. Please contact us to book a parking permit.

Recreation lounge - the recreation lounge features a 42 inch flat screen TV with Foxtel, pool table, table tennis, vending machines, couches and beanbags, books and magazines and arcade games. The lounge is accessible 24 hours a day with your electronic swipe card and can be booked for private events.

Swimming pool – RMIT Village offers access to a 15m heated swimming pool and a barbeque area in a tree-lined courtyard.
