Arrival information & directions

Address: 13 The Oaks, Common Mead Lane, Gillingham, Dorset, GillinghamSP8 4SW, United Kingdom

Directions

By Road:

If arriving by car southbound from the M3/A303: follow signs to Gillingham - the journey will pass through Mere and Milton-on-Stour, arriving in Gillingham via the B3092.  Turn right at the traffic lights onto the B3081 (Wyke St) and drive up the hill. Take the first major* turn on the left, at the top of the hill, signposted Broad Robin and Kington Magna. Drive along here, passing a small shop (One Stop) and Post Office on the right. Just after the shop, turn left into Common Mead Lane and then left again into The Oaks. This is a small cul-de-sac of 16 houses - follow the road round to #13 on the left, with a 'Sunflowers' house name sign to the right of the front door and a large property sign at pavement level.  There is ample off road parking for guests to use.

* IGNORE the first left turn, also marked Common Mead Lane. This is pedestrian access only and does not provide a car based route to the house. Continue up the hill and turn left on Broad Robin, as above.

By Rail:

If you're travelling by train: the nearest station is Gillingham (Dorset), with direct trains from London Waterloo via Basingstoke and Salisbury. The journey takes about two hours. Please let us know when you plan to arrive and we may be able to pick you up from the station.  If not - there is a taxi rank at the station and it's a short journey which will cost c. £5.

If you want to walk,  it takes 10-12 minutes. Your route will be: leave the station and walk towards the main road - you'll pass Coffeeworks Dorset and Wheels bicycle shop on your right. Turn left onto Le Neuborg Way and walk, passing Waitrose on your right, open fields to your left. At the traffic lights, turn left onto Wyke Street.  Almost immediately, turn left again into Common Mead Lane (pedestrian access only) and walk up the lane, passing some car blocking concrete posts as you do so.  Just past the last set of concrete posts,  you will see a turning on your right for The Oaks. Follow the road round to the right and then the left and you will see #13 on the left, with a 'Sunflowers' name plate to the right of the front door and a large white property sign at pavement level.
