Overview

The very friendly proprietors, Roy and Dennis, have run this bed and breakfast accommodation since 1988 and offer very high standards of service and facilities. Located in a quiet, tree-lined, side street only a short walk to old York and it's many historic buildings, sights and attractions, the surrounding North Yorkshire Moors and the East Coast. Also situated only a short walk from the Barbican Centre, University of York, Business Science Park and the Borthwick Institute for Archives.

On offer are both ensuite and shared accommodation on the first floor and an ensuite ground floor double room suitable for wheelchair users or the elderly with parking right outside the door. All accommodation is fitted with full central heating and secondary glazing throughout. All bedrooms have tea and coffee facilities, Freeview LCD TV, iPod dock DAB radio, hairdryer and free WiFi.

There is a private enclosed car park and secure garaging facilities for cycles, motorbikes and electric mobility scooters. Dogs are most welcome by arrangement with no nightly charge.

Please note that there is a minimum stay of 2 nights on a Friday or Saturday. The guest house is normally closed from early December until February. The ground floor room is available Easter through to the end of October.

Bull Lodge is a member of the Visit York local visitor and tourism organisation.

This was a really nice, friendly place to stay. The room and bathroom were spotless. The host very helpfull and knowledgeable suggesting local attractions that we may enjoy visiting. We would definitely stay here again, thank you x

Bull lodge went further by garaging my motorcycle PLUS although not en-suite (my choice) the bathroom was excellent: clean & modern. A good overall experience well worth recommending.

If you arrive earlier, you are welcome to leave your luggage and park your car from midday subject to space in the car park. It is usually not a problem to leave your car for some hours after check out if required.

Directions: York mainline station is located just the other side of the city centre. National and local buses stop just outside the main entrance to the railway station. Take the local, First Group/Transdev no. 10 bus, daytime every 30 minutes, and ask for the St. Joseph Convent stop on Lawrence Street the second stop outside the city walls at Walmgate, this is about 100 yards before Bull Lane. Service frequency of the bus is reduced in the evening and at weekends.  Alternatively taxis wait outside the rail station and take about 10 minutes outside of rush hour times. The walk from the station is one and a half miles and will take around 30 minutes.
