Overview

Welcome to Lancaster University Guest Rooms

Lancaster University Guest Rooms provide bed and breakfast accommodation, offering a mix of 3* Single, Twin and Double rooms. Guests staying in the ensuite bedrooms will receive complimentary toiletries, tea and coffee facilities and Wi-Fi. In every room, there is an iron, ironing board, hairdryer, kettle and towels. The 3* accreditation has been awarded by Visit England.

The Guest Rooms have been awarded with the ‘we’re good to go’ accreditation meaning they have successfully followed government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, have a Risk Assessment in place and a process to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing. Please ask the reception team for further details on these processes.

Just 10 minutes from Lancaster town centre, the guest bedrooms are the perfect base to explore the city, or if you are feeling a little more adventurous, the Trough of Bowland and the Lake District are within a 40-minute reach.

Food & beverage

Breakfast is currently served at The Deli, which is served from 08:00am to 11:30am Monday to Friday. Sit in dining is currently suspended and all meals are take out only served in disposable packaging. The Deli has a wide range of breakfast options to choose from, including poached eggs and fluffy pancakes. The Deli is also open for lunch until 3pm daily.

Food outlets are starting to re-open across campus. Those which are open include a Chinese and Indian take away. More information about where to eat on campus can be provided by the Reception team,

You can also visit the city centre for a meal, the campus is located only a 10-minute drive away.

Grounds & Gardens

The Lancaster University campus occupies a beautiful 560-acre parkland site at Bailrigg, just three miles from Lancaster City Centre. Within this beautiful space, there is a Woodland Walk around the perimeter of the campus. This walk provides a beautiful route through 2.6 miles of woodland canopy that can be enjoyed by all levels of ability, from those looking for an interesting run to those wanting a short stroll. At a moderate pace, the full route can be completed in approximately 1.5 hours.

The Lake District is on the doorstep which is accessible by train or car. There is also the Williamson Park in Lancaster city centre which is a must-see! This is only around a 10-minute drive away.

Other facilities

Wireless internet is available in all bedrooms free of charge. A username and password will be issued upon arrival.

Banks & Shops: The campus is home to two banks, a post office, supermarkets and general stores, bakery, bookshop, newsagent, hairdressing salon, charity shop – and even an ice cream parlour (in the summer!)

Laundrette: There are a number of Laundrettes on campus, these work using a top-up card which can be obtained from each laundrette. Please note that there is a minimum top-up of £10.00, this is non-refundable.

The staff at the reception can direct you to the laundrettes.

The Sports Centre boasts a multitude of state-of-the-art facilities, from badminton courts to a climbing wall, swimming pool, gym and sauna!

A multi-faith Chaplaincy Centre available.

Health Services includes an NHS doctor's surgery, a pharmacy and a private dentist on the campus.

Very much enjoyed our 2 nights’ stay. Room was clean and comfortable with good wifi, and breakfast in a nearby building was plentiful. Parking was free as we stayed over the weekend. Booking was easy, and information given on booking was correct and helpful. All very efficiently run. It was great to stay on campus again after 35 years! Thank you.

Excellent value and excellent service, as always. A problem with the shower was fixed (Joshua on reception was particularly helpful, keeping me informed by phone as to what was happening) and all staff were friendly. Breakfast was excellent. Room was clean, warm and very well presented.

Ideal location for Lancaster, Lakes and Yorkshire Dales. Clean, bright rooms in lovely surroundings. Scrummy breakfast, shops on site and various restaurants during term time. Would highly recommend this accommodation.

Arrival information & directions

By Train: Lancaster train station is around a 15-minute drive away from the University campus, or around 30 minutes by bus. There is a taxi rank outside the train station. There are 2 bus stops which operate services to the University; one directly outside the station which has services to the University every half an hour, or one a 5-minute walk from the train station, on Common Garden street, which has services every 10 minutes.

All buses drop off and collect passengers in the Underpass, situated underneath Alexandra Square in the centre of campus, except for an hourly 40 or 41 journey which calls at the University gates only.

By Car: Leave the M6 motorway at Junction 33 and take the A6 north towards Lancaster. For Lancaster University main campus, turn right at the third set of traffic lights on the A6 into the University main drive. Take the first exit left from the roundabout at the top of the main drive and follow the road round until to you get to car park B, the Guest Rooms are located opposite car park b on the right-hand side.

Visitor Car Parking: Car parking is available on campus 24/7 and is free after 6pm. Parking charges do apply during the day on campus and can be purchased from any of the 11 pay and display machines across campus a cost of £2 for two hours or £5 for the full day. Chip and pin card payment facilities are available at each machine. Blue Badge holders should park in Bowland Avenue.

By Air: From Manchester International Airport, there is a train service direct to Lancaster train station or taxi's available at all hours.
