The Old Rectory is full of atmosphere with high ceilings and traditional features. Sit back and relax in the drawing room beside an open fire in winter or take afternoon tea on the beautiful south facing terrace, when weather permits! The ½ acre walled garden is sheltered and full of roses, with mature trees and a small orchard to stroll through. Barningham Village, which lies between Barnard Castle and Richmond, is small and perfect in stone, nestling under the moors in Teesdale. There are many places to visit including Rokeby Park, Bowes Museum, Egglestone Hall Gardens, Thorp Perrow Arboretum and Plantsmans Corner, a huge walled garden in the middle of Barningham, full of unusual and rare plants. The Morritt Arms Hotel is just down the road and serves delicious food seven days a week. It also boasts a stunning and very old Dickensian mural in the bar.
