Overview

St John’s College celebrated its 500th Anniversary in 2011. The college was founded on the site of the 13th-century Hospital of St John in Cambridge, expanding over the subsequent five hundred years to become the largest of the Oxford and Cambridge colleges by area.

St John's has magnificent gardens and extends onto the famous Cambridge Backs beyond the River Cam, with its courts connected by the beautiful Bridge of Sighs. Although the Main Gate of the college leads right into the heart of the city, the college courts provide a serene and peaceful environment for guests.

The Bed and Breakfast offer bedrooms in recently refurbished rooms situated through out the college. These rooms accommodate students during Term time. Both twin and single rooms are available and all have ensuite facilities. Please note that twin rooms have separate single beds in different rooms and are connected with a small lounge.  The college does not have double beds within the college.

The college was awarded a 4* rating by Visit England, for three years running.

PLEASE NOTE: THE COLLEGE CANNOT ACCOMMODATE PERSONS UNDER THE AGE OF 16YRS

Very good experience . Central position for exploring the town. Spacious rooms , even our own little kitchen All was very clean . Fantastic view over college grounds and excellent breakfast in the college buttery. All staff were friendly and helpful. Staying here really enhanced our first visit to Cambridge . Not suitable if you have mobility issues steep winding stairs to room , this was not an issue for us but something to be aware of. Definitely recommend and hope to return some day.

A fabulous place to stay. Just one small thing to be aware of - we understood that we would be able to leave bags safely at the porters' lodge prior to check-in and after check-out, but this service was not available. We could leave bags, but not securely.

Nice big room in a spectacular location. Quiet, comfortable, good WIFI, nice shower, tea & biscuits. Bar and breakfast room at the bottom of the stairs! For less than £100! Ridiculously good. Just a shame I didn't have more time to explore.

A wonderful opportunity to stay in a Cambridge college, right in the centre of the city when visiting a student studying there. A fabulous sense of history surrounds you when staying in college, it's a unique experience.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The college has an amazing atmosphere of course and it was wonderful to stay there. It is also extremely convenient for the city centre.

Perfect efficiency apartment. Had to initially walk back and forth between the offices to find where I'd booked through but other than that a lovely stay.
