Geschichte

The oldest parts of the Castle date back to before 1296. The Galbraiths of Culcreuch were a warlike Clan and it is certain that the Castle witnessed much warmongering over time with its bottle dungeon in regular use. Penniless, Robert Galbraith, 11th Laird of Culcreuch and 17th Chief of Clan Galbraith, fled to Ireland and disappeared into Irish history. After 17 generations of occupation by the Clan Galbraith, the Napiers took over in 1632 and built a new wing to the Castle. Robert Napier was the second son of the famous John Napier of Merchiston, who invented Logarithms. Five generations lived at Culcreuch before selling the Estate to Peter Spiers from Glasgow in 1769 for a reputed £15,200.

Essen & Getränke

Full Scottish breakfast is included in all room rates and is an experience in itself, being served in the Laird's Hall within the 700-year-old building

The hotel has two restaurants in the Castle, The Dungeon Restaurant and the award winning 2 AA Rosette Oak Room Restaurant (open April to December)

The Dungeon Diner Restaurant situated in the 700-year-old part of the building is open 7 days a week between noon & 2:30pm and 6pm & 8:45pm, Monday through Saturday. On Sunday, food is served all day from 12:30pm until 8:45pm.
Although not a requirement, it is always best to book a table as some nights  can be very busy with non-residents.

The 2 AA Rosette Oak Room Restaurant is open Wednesday to Sunday, 6pm until 8:30pm and MUST BE BOOKED AT LEAST 24 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF ARRIVAL.
Please note, a children's menu is not offered in this restaurant and there is an age restriction of 15 years and older.
The menu can be amended for specific dietary needs or allergies with advanced notice. Please give details of diatary requirements when booking so the chefs may apply the same creativity and attention to all dishes.

There is a fine choice of Scottish Malts & Gins in the Dungeon bar and in winter an open fire greet guests in the bar, front hall and Oak Room.

Grundstücke und Gärten

Culcreuch Castle is set in it's own 1600 acre estate and overlooking its own private loch, with many walks within its boundaries. Please remember this is a working estate as well and be mindful of the livestock when roaming the estate.

There is a children's play area at the rear of the main Castle building.

Within reach of many tourist attractions including distillery tours, Culcreuch Castle Hotel is also accessible for top-quality shopping in nearby Stirling, or the major Scottish Cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh.
