Dial House Hotel, Bourton on the Water

Geschichte

The Dial House was built in 1698 by local architect Andrew Paxford - his wife's initials are carved on the front of the building. Originally 'The Vinehouse', it was renamed after the large sundial above the front door in the early 19th Century.

Built as a private house, it was only in the last 30 years that it was bought and converted to a hotel. Throughout examples of its rich history are everywhere - low Cotswold stone arches, beamed ceilings, large inglenook fireplaces, poor boxes. We feel privileged to be adding to its story.

Bourton on the Water is full of old bridges and houses, but the Dial House remains the oldest building in this beautiful Cotswold Village.

Jamie Forman, head chef at the renowned Dial House Hotel Restaurant is passionate about using local and seasonal produce and supporting our local farmers. He and the brigade at the hotel have worked hard to produce a menu that is stylish and creative and above all tastes extremely good.

The restaurant was recently awarded 2 rosettes for its food on the inspector's very first visit. We have high hopes that future inspections will take it to 3.

Grundstücke und Gärten

Like the rest of the hotel a huge amount of care has been put into restoring the garden and making it an oasis to retreat to. We have renovated our old summer house on the top lawn. This is a perfect place to relax on a rainy day with a hot cup of tea. It can also be booked for dinner for a private romantic occasion.

We have invested in very high quality garden furniture so that the dining experience can be taken outside with no lack of comfort or quality.

The Dial House Gardens are walled all the way round and are one of Bourton's best kept secrets, a true haven of peace and tranquility.

Some of the rooms have free wireless internet access and all residents can gain access to the internet wirelessly from our lounge.

Our elegant sitting room is for the sole use of residents in the hotel and guests dining in the restaurant. When we planned the refurbishment our emphasis was, as always, on high quality fabrics and beautiful wallpapers. It is equally charming and cosy at the height of summer as it is in the depths of winter when the fire is roaring away.
