The town centre is just a few minutes’ walk from the apartment so take that leisurely stroll along the cliff tops, down through ancient cobbled streets, enjoying the sea and harbour views on your way.
Whitby’s history includes black jet jewellery, whaling and the whaling family of Scoresby, Captain James Cook, Dracula and Bram Stoker, Charles Dickens, St Hilda and Whitby Abbey. The North York Moors National Park offers everything for moors & coastal walkers, being on the edge of Whitby.
Take advantage of the North Yorkshire Steam Railway which operates from Pickering into Whitby.
You can stop off at Goathland (Aidensfield - Heartbeat territory) & Grosmont to visit the engine sheds. You can slo dine in the carriages and they run events throughout the year.
Whitby has wonderful sandy beaches with donkey rides, quaint shops for holiday gifts, fine bars, bistros, local pubs and many restaurants including the famous Magpie Cafe for not only fresh Whitby fish & chips but a wonderful selection of seafood dishes. . All this coupled with its annual themed events of Whitby Regatta, Whitby Folk week, Northern Soul Weekends, Whitby Gothic festivals, there is plenty for the family to do and for all ages.
