Old Chapel B&B, near Lostwithiel

Geschichte

The Old Chapel was built in the 1860s and was known as Broadoaks Chapel, used mainly by the men working on the nearby Boconnoc Estate and their families.

The estate was the home of the Pitt family of Parliamentary fame and is undergoing a major restoration led by decsendents of the family.

The chapel closed in the 1960s, when mechanisation meant a drop in farm and estate workers, and was renovated in the 1980s. The current owners, Michael and Babs, have continued to care for the chapel and an on-going series of improvements mean everything is to a very high standard.

Essen & Getränke

Breakfast consists of the very finest, locally sourced ingredients and can be as hearty or as light as required, from the bountiful "Trencherman's breakfast" (the fullest Full English you will find!) to scrambled eggs with smoked salmon or an olde-English treat such as Devilled Kidneys. Several vegetarian options are always on the menu.

Yogurt, grapefruit, cereals and nuts and seeds are always available together with plenty of toast with home-made marmalade and Cornish jam and honey.

For dinner there is a splendid choice of pubs and restaurants in nearby Lostwithiel. A little further away Fowey and Looe also have superb eating places and "celebrity" chefs Jamie Oliver and Rick Stein have restaurants in Cornwall.

The county is enthusiastic about its local produce and provides some of the finest meat and seafood to be found anywhere in Europe.

The Old Chapel has a summer house in the garden for guests' use. During the summer a gas barbeque is available for guests to use for a small fee.
