Accommodation and travel ideas in Sydney
Visitors to Sydney are bound to be impressed by this glamorous and exciting city. Stunning modern architecture blends seamlessly into beautiful beaches and pockets of wild bush, and there's plenty to do both day and night.
What to do
Whether you like art, food or nightlife, there's something for you in Sydney. Spice Alley, tucked away behind Kensington Street, is a courtyard filled with food vendors serving an assortment of Asian cuisines - we particularly recommend the Malaysian street food at Old Jim Kee. In the evening, Hacienda Cocktail Bar on Circular Quay is the perfect spot for a pre-dinner or pre-theatre drink. There's uninterrupted views of the harbour which are even more beautiful at night time. For art, head to The Art Gallery of New South Wales. If you're visiting on a Wednesday, they're open late and have a programme of workshops and films called "Art After Hours".
If you're a swimmer, then this is the city for you! Head down to Bondi Icebergs Pool, one of Sydney's most iconic landmarks, for an early morning swim. Alternatively, Gordon's Bay is a great spot for snorkelling - there's a 600m underwater nature trail, which should take about 40 minutes to complete.
Where to stay
SpeedyBooker offers a wide range of accommodation to suit all budgets and needs. These range from luxury hotels directly on the harbour, to budget hostels dotted around the city.
A great accommodation option is to stay in vacant university residences. These offer modern rooms with either self-catering facilities or with breakfast provided, and are an ideal way to visit this beautiful city on a tight budget.
