Magdalen College, Oxford

University Residence

The river Cherwell runs through Magdalen's grounds which include over 100 acres of parkland - a beautiful and tranquil area in the heart of the city. Along with the magnificent cloisters, deer park and quads with formal lawns and borders, they claim to be the most beautiful college in Oxford are not without foundation.

The College offers rooms on its main site but also rooms in their Waynflete Building across Magdalen Bridge, with stunning views of the College. In this building, modest rates do not include breakfast. Whichever Magdalen accommodation you choose to book, you can be sure of a warm welcome at the Porters' Lodge, from one of the property's student staff or the porters themselves. One of them will show you to your room and answer any queries you may have. You will also have free access to the College main grounds.

Important notice: There are no passenger lifts in the accommodation buildings, and are unable to provide parking at the College.

Very basic but comfortable. The location is fantastic. Continental breakfast provided was very good. The porters were friendly and helpful. Expensive for the type of accommodation it is (but Oxford is very expensive) but worth it for the experience of staying in college and visiting Magdalen....

A porter very kindly ran over in the rain with an extra basket of food but was not initially sure that he would be able to o...

Really enjoyable experience as the college has so much to offer with extensive grounds, including a Deer Park. My room in the Grove Quad was particularly spacious with immaculate ensuite, views over the parks and lovely sunshine in the morning. Conveniently close to the centre of Oxford, althou...

The room wasn’t in Magdalen College but in a modern building next door. I did get to wander around the college - and to go for breakfast there in the morning (for an additional payment) The room was quite big and pleasant. The corridor was noisy at night - take ear plugs just in case. Good value...

Comfortable room with lovely views across to New Building. Excellent breakfast in Hall. Enjoyed exploring the deer park and sitting reading in the gardens. Specific note - door closer device on fire door outside room broken - was woken once in night by fierce bang.

Breakfast inside college is £11.50, which is much higher than high street price. Not clear why? No TV inside room or general room
