City Centre Luxury Apartment, Edinburgh

History

William McEwan founded the Fountain Brewery which originated on this Edinburgh site in 1856 and was subsequently sold off in 2009 to a local construction company to make way for this major city centre development.  McEwan Square is appropriately named after the founder.

There were also dairies, silk works and a rubber factory which was renowned for its rich industrial heritage.

The newly built city centre luxury apartments were unveiled by a local resident - the famous Sir Sean Connery who himself, 80 years ago, grew up on this Fountainbridge street!
