Cross Keys B&B, Rode

History

The earliest reference to the Cross Keys Inn is in 1730. The first certain reference to a brewhouse is in 1818. The Cross Keys Inn and the brewhouse came into the ownership of Henry Fussell in 1857. He was also a baker, and he added a bakery to the complex at this time. The brewery was greatly enlarged in 1903 and 1934.

Brewing ceased when the company was taken over by Bass, Mitchell and Butlers in 1962, after which the site acted as a bottling plant and distribution depot. Both these functions ceased in 1992 when the Brewery Distribution Depot closed and the Cross Keys Inn finally reopened as a traditional Inn in 2002 under private ownership. 

Food & beverage

Full English Breakfast is served between 7.30am - 9.30am.

All food is freshly prepared and ingredients, where possible, are sourced locally with meat, dairy, fruit and vegetables delivered daily. Lunch is served between 12-2pm and dinner between 6.30-9pm daily except Sundays. There is no dinner served on Sunday evenings.

The Cross Keys offers a range of carefully selected wines and excellent cask ales as recommended by the Good Beer Guide along with premium lagers, a varied selection of bottled beers and soft drinks.

Grounds & Gardens

There is an outside patio area that has umbrellas and a smoking area with heat lights.  In Summer beautiful hanging baskets and planters in abundance. Lovely area to sit and enjoy a drink and meal.

Other facilities

There is a private car park to the rear of the property.

Throughout the year regular entertainment evenings are held.
