Overview

The Discovery Melbourne hostel is Melbourne's largest hostel and offers small and large dorms at one low nightly price, The rates include free WiFi at reception, free daily breakfast and free towel. Guests staying on Tuesday and Sunday get free dinner, others who stay on Friday can receive free bar snacks. The hostel houses an onsite bar, cinema and cafe, giving those who stay at the hostel a variety of pastime options to kick back and relax.

The hostel is in walking distance to most of Melbourne's attractions, nightlife, shopping and public transport hubs. It is right on the doorstep of Flagstaff Gardens and the world famous Queen Victoria Markets.

You will also be required to provide a Valid Passport on arrival.

Nearest Train: Southern Cross Station (20 min walk)

Free Tram – Jump on the tram at the front of the station on Spencer Street heading north. Get off at the corner of Queen St & LaTrobe Street then walk up one block and turn right on Franklin Street.

Taxi – The quickest and easiest way and will set you back approximately $7-$10 depending on traffic and takes about 5 minutes.

Nearest Airport: Tullamarine Airport (21km)

Direct Bus Service – STARBUS operates between 5am – 7pm daily. It departs from Bus Zone L (out the front of the international terminal) approximately every 30 minutes and will drop you off right at our door.

Skybus – Skybus operates between Tullamarine Airport and Southern Cross Station and departs every 15 minutes 24/7. Bookings are not required.

Taxi – Alternatively you can jump in a taxi and depending on traffic this will take between 25-50 minutes and cost approximately between $50-$65. If you are travelling with 3 or 4 people this can be a cheaper option than paying separately for the bus.

* Avlon Airport (57km): SITA coaches meet every flight into Avalon Airport and it costs $22 per person.
