Lastingham is a perfect centre for the moors and the dales, for ruined abbeys and castles, for the ancient city of York and for the coast, with its smugglers’ coves and its long sandy Beaches, a mere twenty or so miles away. There is also fishing, riding, golf and swimming in the area, as well as: The North York Moors Railway, Eden Camp, Flamingo Land, the Ryedale Folk Museum and many more attractions.

History to the present day

Lastingham Grange was transformed in the early 1920s from a 17th century farm house into the fine country house that it is today. However, it was only in 1946 that the Grange first opened its doors as an hotel.
