Park Lodge is a 17th Century guest house situated on the beautiful Lulworth Estate.

Park Lodge is situated on the Lulworth Estate in the grounds of Lulworth Castle. With stone mullioned windows and other internal features of great historical importance, Park Lodge has been sympathetically modernised and is now offering comfortable Bed and Breakfast in its two large guest rooms. For Single Occupancy please view the available rooms.

Please note that single night bookings are not available on Saturdays from Easter through to October and there is a minimum stay of 3 nights on Bank Holiday weekends. Check-in is not before 5.00pm.  Unfortunately, we are unable to take dogs.

History to the present day

Built in the 1600s in Jacobean style, the lodge is said to have originally been used as a Dower House for the nearby Lulworth Castle built in the early 17th Century as a hunting lodge, became a country house at the heart of a large estate. Thomas Howard, 3rd Lord Bindon, built the Castle in order to entertain hunting parties for the King and Court. The Howards owned it until 1641 when it was purchased by Humphrey Weld, the direct ancestor of the present owners.

The exterior of the Castle changed little over the years but the interior evolved in line with changing fashions until it was gutted by a disasterous fire in 1929. Restoration work began on the ruin by the Department of the Environment and was followed through to completion in 1998 by English Heritage.

Food and Drinks

Breakfast is taken in the large family dining room. A full English breakfast is provided with plenty of tea and toast or for those on a lighter diet, why not enjoy a range of yogurts and cereals. If you have a particular dietary requirement, please advise in the Additional Information section of the booking form.
