Summary

Sallowfield Cottage, a gardener's delight, set in the beautiful Norfolk countryside

Introduction

Sallowfield Cottage, located in what was once the ancient Wymondham Abbey Deer Park, is set in the beautiful Norfolk countryside near the old market town of Wymondham.

Surrounded by a beautiful English garden with views over open countryside and set around a large pond, the cottage is ideal for gardening enthusiasts who like traditional English country gardens, or for visitors as a base to explore the many historic sights in Norfolk.

The cottage provides bed and breakfast accommodation for up to 6 people in 3 rooms - two doubles and a twin, all with private bathroom or shower facilities. All rooms have an elegant but cosy traditional ‘country house’ feel to them, as do the communal sitting and dining rooms. The communal sitting room has a large open fireplace and is ideal for relaxing after dinner. It leads on to the conservatory and garden offering great views of the local country side.

History to the present day

Sallowfield Cottage, originally a farm labourer's cottage built around 1845, looks toward Wymondham Abbey across what was once the ancient Wymondham Abbey Deer Park. Wymondham Abbey (founded in 1107), a magnificent church with unusual twin towers, was subject to a feud between the priory and the town for hundreds of years.

Food and Drinks

A full English breakfast is included in the price and served between 7.00am and 10.00am in the Dining Room.

A three course dinner can be provided on request and will be charged at £25 per person (please use the Additional Information section on your booking form to submit request). Specific dietary requirements can be catered for subject to prior notice.

Grounds and gardens

Sallowfield Cottage is located in grounds which are rich and fertile. Tended by a keen gardener, this has developed into a substantial English garden with many varieties of flowers, shrubs and trees. The garden is set around a large pond and includes outdoor tables for lunch and tea. The garden will be open for the National Garden Show in 2010.
