Overview

Talybont Gate offers self catered rooms to individuals or groups wishing to come to Cardiff for leisure or other purposes and is an approximate 30 minute walk away from the city centre and all its amenities.

All rooms are single ensuite (3/4 beds) within flats of either 6, 7 or 10 bedrooms, with access to a communal kitchen/dining area.

Booking was fantastic, room was very nice and receptionist Sarah was outstanding. Sadly due to staffing levels the rooms were not available when advertised which meant a lot of hanging around. However everyone in the reception team and cleaning team could not have done anymore with the staff they had. This experience would not put me off staying here again.

Great value for money, room had everything I needed for my stay, nice bed, good storage and liked the ensuite and had a well equipped kitchen. Nice feel to campus, good community vibe and felt secure in my room. Friendly and helpful reception. About 40-50mins walk from city centre station but near beautiful Pontcanna fields & has 24 hour Tesco nearby.

Stayed twice and happy each time. Staff particularly helpful and I look forward to staying again in a few weeks before the students[lucky people] alive back after the long Vac. Much better than the 'flop houses i stayed in during my student days.

Comfortable bed, plenty of storage space, excellent kitchen facilities. A problem arose with the toilet cistern, which was promptly dealt with. Plenty of car parking space. Friendly and helpful staff. A very enjoyable stay

Exit the motorway at Junction 32 and follow A470 into Cardiff
Warning: Speed Cameras along the A470
When approaching the Gabalfa Interchange (where the A470 crosses the A48) remain in the left-hand lane and do not go over the flyover
This will bring you to a roundabout
Take the 4th exit onto the A48, signposted Talybont Student Residences
Almost immediately after joining the A48, take the left lane and prepare to turn left at the first traffic lights onto Excelsior Road
At mini roundabout take 1st exit, and then take the 1st right (McDonald's is on the left-hand side)
Turn almost immediatley right again, into Talybont
Drive through security gates and follow the signs to Southgate House Reception to collect your keys

There is sufficient free parking available and no permit is required. On arrival you will be directed to the main car park on site which is available for your use.

For those travelling by train to Cardiff, Talybont is approximately a 30 - 35 minute walk from the town centre. The nearest train station is Cathays which is a 15 minute walk to the residence. Alternatively a taxi from the city centre will cost around £8.00. Please note that this cost may change depending on traffic flow. Please ask the driver to drop off at Southgate House Reception.
