Overview

Combining Victorian elegance with modern comforts, The Belmont is an independently owned hotel and offers peace and tranquility with outstanding levels of Hospitality, Service, Comfort and Food, in an excellent location along Queens Road, a few minutes from the Keats Green cliff path, and is central to Shanklin Old Village, town, beach, the Clifftop lift and is just a short walk from the bus and train station. If travelling by Car discounted ferry travel to the island can be arranged.

History

Where comfortable hotel meets staying with friends, located in one of the sunniest recorded towns in Britain the Belmont Hotel is an imposing and unique Victorian building in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight which has been receiving guests since the late 1800’s and was built as a gentleman’s residence, The Belmont is well known for the warm welcome, friendly efficient service and the relaxing atmosphere which makes it an ideal spot from which to enjoy the Island.

Food & beverage

The Breakfast choice is beyond compare, the homemade breads are made on the premises and are constantly changing. Breakfast is served 8.00 - 9.30am
For those guest's who require an earlier start or late breakfast, an in-room buffet breakfast is supplied the evening before by request.

Dine in the restaurant and enjoy a 3-course meal served by the waiting team. Guests may book half-board for the duration of the stay or add a booking extra for specific days required, booking is essential 24 hours in advance. Opening times are 6.00pm - 8.00pm.

Grounds & Gardens

The Belmont Hotel's leisure facilities are beyond compare for its size. The sun-trap rear garden is ideal for relaxing and unwinding in the afternoon sun by the quiet pool area, loungers, chairs and tables are available for use.

The well-stocked bar is a cosy room opening onto the veranda through French doors - the perfect place for an evening drink.

The Old village with the thatched roofs is minutes away on foot. Guest can also take advantage of the cliff top walk to Sandown or the walk to Ventnor. The Sea front and Beech is minutes from the Belmont.

Shanklin Theatre is also minutes from the Hotel and hosts some very good shows all year round.

For guests who want to bring laptops, tablets etc free high-speed fibre optic wi-fi is available throughout the Belmont completely free of charge.
Relax in the Lounge where there is a 42" television, books and games.

The Island is around two hours from London, for example, by both car & train. Directions are for the simplest routes, though not necessarily the shortest.

Discounted Car Ferry travel can be arranged by the Hotel. Please phone the hotel to arrange.

Suggested Car Ferry Routes to the Island:

From London, Home Counties, East Anglia - Southampton or Portsmouth
From the West of England and South Wales - Southampton or Lymington
From the Midlands and North - Southampton or Portsmouth
From Dorset - Lymington
From Sussex - Portsmouth

There is at least one crossing an hour on all routes. The Portsmouth and Lymington ferries are both run by Wightlink so guests can travel out from one port and back on the other.
