Overview

From as little as £70 per room per night:
Whether you're in Derbyshire and the Peak District for business or pleasure, The Red Lion Hotel is the perfect place to unwind after a long day. Our traditionally decorated rooms are equipped to a high standard, with everything you need to completely relax and enjoy a perfect night's rest - some offer an engaging view of Wirksworth's bustling Market Place.

Venture out of your room to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of our bar, which serves hot food (see our sample menus) drinks, snacks and alcohol throughout the day.

The Red Lion Hotel's Gourmet Evening Experiences are a great opportunity to try something a little different - and extra special. Our Head Chef has prepared four exciting 5-course menus, changing regularly and designed to showcase the very finest produce and his own impressive talents. The Red Lion Hotel's Gourmet Evening Experiences are always popular events, and with limited places we advise early booking to avoid disappointment.

Wirksworth is one of the oldest settlements in Derbyshire, its history dating back at least 2,000 years. It was the Romans who first discovered the riches of lead to be found in these hills, which have been exploited over the centuries for their wealth in mineral deposits.
Back in the late 17th/early 18th centuries Wirksworth was a boom town, when many of the wonderful Georgian buildings to be seen today were built. As the lead mining era came to a close, the limestone hills continued to be devoured but for their stone. In 1978 The Wirksworth Project was instigated to tidy up the town and put Wirksworth back on the map and it is now a popular tourist location.

Please note dogs are welcome in the Public areas but not in the bedrooms.

All booking fees will be taken at the time of receipt of the booking by the Hotel.
