Histoire

Hillthwaite House is an established family-run property known for its friendly, warm and welcoming service. We are in a classic setting, a short walk from England’s largest natural lake, with spectacular views of the South Lakeland fells.

A freshly cooked hearty breakfast is included in the room rate to set you up for the day.

Guests can indulge in snacks, bar lunches and afternoon tea's during the day serving a variety of dishes from nibbles to salads and door stop sandwiches to fresh fish and chips and home made burgers and steak brioches.

In the evenings guests can dine in The Hillthwaite restaurant which creates English cuisine with a modern twist using the freshest Cumbrian produce including local meat and vegetables.

Hillthwaite is nestlede in three acres of landscaped gardens – offers a dramatic views over Windermere Lake to Langdale Pikes, Crinkle Crags and Coniston Old Man.

Most of the rooms look out over lake or fells. The restaurant and private dining facilities, have the same west-facing panorama. So does the conservatory. And the popular stone terrace where guests relax after a meal or for afternoon tea and take in the charm, beauty and ever-changing colours of our unique Cumbrian landscape.

All bedrooms include a flat screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities and hairdryer with occasion bedrooms having additional benefits of a CD/DVD player, use of bathrobes, complimentary red and white wine (187.5ml) on arrival, complimentary still & sparkling water as well as slippers and a daily newspaper and Jazzuzzi baths.

Guests also have the benefit of using the hotels swimming pool, sauna and steam room to relax and unwind.
