Storia

The grade I listed church of St John the Evangelist church was part of the former monastery of the Cowley Fathers, the Society of St John the Evangelist, now the college chapel of St Stephen's House, Theological College and Permanent Private Hall of the University of Oxford.

Located opposite the University Sports Grounds, where Sir Roger Bannister ran his famous sub 4 minute mile

Cibo & bevande

There is normally a bar serving drinks both before and during the interval of each event. 

There are a large number of excellent pubs, restaurants and cafes within a short walking distance, 'The Oxford Blue', just around the corner in Marston St is the nearest and often has special pre and post concert offers for SJE ticket holders. There is a huge choice of of other eating places in Cowley Road.

We do have some guest rooms in college (attached to the church by the cloisters), more in university vacation time than term, simply click on the accommodation button on the website to see availability.

There are two small gated private car parks close by. One is adjacent to the church (ideal for physically impaired) and the other 5 minutes’ walk away in Marston St. Please enter your car registration in the field box provided on the booking form. Details and directions will be e-mailed to you near the date of the concert.
