The Crown House has a history of hospitality dating back to its origins as one of the early coaching Inns on the original London to Newmarket road.

The main building dates back to early Tudor times and, with the addition of a beautiful Georgian façade, The Crown House is a warm and welcoming venue set in tranquil landscaped gardens.

Relax in one of the comfy leather chairs in the lounge with a drink or a coffee, sit in the garden taking in the view or stroll round the historic village of Great Chesterford. Whatever your choice, we are here to help you unwind.

We still serve a hearty breakfast but we no longer serve evening meals. There are two pubs, just a 10 minute walk away serving evening meals. The Plough and The Crown & Thistle

All of our bedrooms are as individual as you would expect from the history of the building. From the rooms in the main building which show their Tudor origins with bumpy walls and timber beams, to the more modern annex rooms all have been to designed to offer first class comfort whilst retaining their character and charm. All our rooms are individually designed and furnished and range from singles through to luxurious 4 posters.

The Crown House is a great place to stay both to relax in and as a central point for some wonderful destinations. Hop on a train (or use one of the park & rides) and visit the glorious colleges and bustling shopping malls of Cambridge take a bus into the lovely historic town of Saffron Walden or wander round the stunning house and grounds of Audley End

For those looking for a bit more excitement the racing town of Newmarket is just 25 minutes away, Duxford Air museum is just a 10 minutes drive.
