Overview

A traditional Inn ideally situated in the peaceful village of Clarencefield near Dumfries in South West Scotland.

If you are looking for accommodation, good traditional food, real ales and a relaxed atmosphere come visit the Farmers Inn, Clarencefield.

Offering bed and breakfast accommodation in Dumfries and Galloway, The Farmers is located only 20 minutes away from the M74/M6 and easily accessible from the A75 and National Cycle Route 7, making us ideally situated for wedding guests, golfers, birdwatchers, fishermen, cyclists and visitors to the area looking to relax in a friendly atmosphere.

We are the nearest establishment to the renowned wedding venue Comlongon Castle and only minutes away from Powfoot Championship Golf Course, Caerlaverock Castle & Nature Reserve and of course Dumfries.

At the Farmers we are pleased to offer you today's comforts in traditional surroundings. The original Inn was built as a coaching stop in the late 16 or early 1700's and was called the "Castle Inn" after Comlongon Castle. During its varied history it has even been a Temperance Hotel. The “Farmers” as we know it today took shape in the early 80's and is largely on the site of the adjoining village shop but the old bar area around the fire is still very much in use today.

We serve traditional cask ales from some of the country’s finest brewers and we have been included in the Camra Good Beer Guide since 1991. We also offer a range of traditional malt whiskies from around Scotland.

We offer a good selection of traditional meals as well as a variety of vegetarian dishes. Our traditional Sunday Roast Beef lunches are always popular and there are various other specials available at the weekends. Like many traditional Inns all our meals are served in the bar, which can create a very lively atmosphere especially at weekends. Locally regarded as being of excellent value for money there will always be something on the menu to tempt you.
