Charles Jardine feels fly casting should be smooth and easy. Timing and understanding how the rod and line behave is asimportant as selecting the right fly or tippet or location.
But importantly, he also feels you should cast with a smile on your face and just enjoy it.

Charles Jardine has enjoyed being able to write for all the U.K.’s fly fishing magazines: Trout & Salmon, Trout Fisherman, StillwaterTrout Angler, Total/Today’s Fly Fisher, Fly Fishing & Fly Tying magazine and other publications. Charles has held many prestigiousand various roles including Chair of the Game Angling Instructor’s association, the Vice president of the Fly Dressers’ Guild, atrustee of the Get Hooked on Fishing scheme and Angling Unlimited which helps disadvantaged young people through fishing,International Director for the Federation of Fly Fishers, and board member of the Angler’s Conservation Association – now calledthe Angling Trust. A member of the England team winning Gold and Bronze at the Commonwealth Games,
In the new Millennium Charles embarked on new career in angling politics: becoming the Angling Director for the CountrysideAlliance, creating the ground breaking Water Matters pack dedicated to taking fishing into the classroom for school children agedbetween 11 and 14 and telling the truth about angling and its worth to everyone and the great conservation of our wetlands thatcomes with it, whilst also countering attacks on the sport by single-issue animal liberation organisations; importantly though, thistime was spent growing the sport in any way possible. Charles was awarded the Goodson Wickes trophy for this work within theAlliance and he maintains his association with the CA and now the Countryside Alliance Foundation its charitable educational arm,as Angling Advisor taking Fishing into schools as part of the ASDAN scheme
Charles has recently gained silver at the ESPN outdoor championship in up-state New York and has been visiting the USA andsupporting organisations like the Federation of Fly Fishers. He has been awarded the FFF Presidents Pin and been made a living FlyFishing Legend in the USA! Most recently he was given the very rare honour of being awarded the FFF Ambassadors award forgrowing the sport throughout the world, and also gained European and USA Masters Fly-casting accreditation.
