Overview

Visiting anglers may obtain permits to use the boats or may take out associate membership of the SAA. The associate membership provides bank fishing on the Association's trout lochs, free use of the trout loch boats and also enables visiting anglers to obtain season tickets for the River Creed salmon and sea trout fishery.

SAA members also have free access to the SAA boat on Tully's loch (trout, salmon and sea trout fishing) and access to the SAA trout and salmon fishing on Loch Langavat (see Langavat, SAA page of Fish Hebrides).

The brown trout season opens on 15 March and closes on 6 October, the best months are May, June and all of September, although the bait fisher and persistent fly fisherman will catch trout throughout the season.

Although stocks are often prolific, anglers are asked to take only what they need for their own consumption and to carefully return the rest.

Necessities:

A map (O/S Landranger No 8 covers all off the lochs mentioned above), compass and whistle are must have items when loch fishing. Quite often when the mist comes down you can see the other side of the loch but once you start walking on the moor it can literally become pea soup.

Another two essential items are a midge net and some good repellent - when the midge decides to make an appearance your day can be over pretty quickly if you don’t have some protection against them.

The wearing of life jackets in any of the SAA boats is compulsory.

Catch returns must be completed..
