The George Hotel is a traditional country pub in the village of Orton in Cumbria dating back to 1826. We have 8 rooms in total, 6 are ensuite, 2 have a shared bathroom with a bath.

All rooms have a television, tea/coffee making facilities and hairdryer, ironing board available on request. We now also have facilities for up to 4 tents at the rear of the pub.
Enjoy a terraced beer garden for the summer or a roaring log fire in the winter, you will always get a warm welcome and somewhere to relax whatever the weather.
A full English breakfast is on offer. We serve a traditional menu at lunchtime and evenings ranging from gourmet burgers, homemade pies to sizzling steaks or freshly battered cod. We also have 3-4 vegetarian options normally available and we also have a good selection of gluten free meals as well.
We have a good selection of real ales from Jennings, wines and soft drinks in the bar area, you can choose to eat in the 33 seater restaurant or in the bar area.
We are easy to find as Orton is just 3 minutes from Junction 38 M6 Motorway or 4 scenic miles from Junction 39. We are also on the Coast 2 Coast walk & cycle routes and the W2W cycle route as well. We also have the world famous Kennedy's chocolate factory just across the road which is a real treat for all visitors.
