Minutes from vibrant Newtown shopping, cafes and bars and a short bus or train ride into the centre of Sydney, St John's is conveniently located in quiet surrounds but still close to the bustle that is Sydney.

We loved our stay at St John's. Fabulous buildings. Breakfast was extremely generous and so fresh and appealing. Common room with its facilities was very much appreciated. Hard for people on street side to cope with the heat as they couldn't open their windows (traffic noise) to let air in. Accommodation worked well for us but transport became a bit expensive. With introduction of new Opal Card interstaters who didn't have one found it hard to catch buses and had to use taxis. In the heat and humidity it was a bit hard to walk into the city/circular quay/galleries etc. Great range of restaurants available in Newtown. Does booking site make it clear that there will be quite a significant addition to room charges with foreign transaction bank charges? Loved the Nicholson Museum of Roman Antiquities in the university grounds. Website doesn't reveal that single rooms and double rooms are not in the same building. This can make a difference to family groups.

Zimmer und Flure im historischen Teil sind sehr abgewohnt und renovierungsbedürftig, aber sauber; Gemeinschaftsbad und -toiletten sauber und in Ordnung. Außenanlage und Außensicht der Gebäude sehr schön. Frühstück hervorragend und Frühstücksraum mit schönem Ambiente

Loved staying here. Pity parking isn't a bit more well organised/available. Lack of air con could get awkward at the height of Summer! Breakfast is amazing. The dining hall is like eating at Hogwarts.

We missed soap at the room, a cloth for cleaning the foor after shower. Otherwise everything was perfect.
