Black Lion Inn, Hartington

The rooms at The Black Lion Inn have been very recently renovated. Sitting perfectly alongside the charm and character of the original building, the rooms are modern, stylish and extremely comfortable. The interiors and furnishings have been designed to maximise comfort and space whilst bringing a touch of the pub’s history and location to the room. There’s a smart TV, free and fast WiFi and a brand new bathroom. Bespoke details such as a comfy, designer chair and antique lamps give a touch of elegance. The premium beds provide real comfort paired with soft cotton bedding. Breakfast is done properly, all cooked to order. The kitchen uses only the best local produce with free range eggs from a local farm in Warslow and their own sausages made by a butcher in Grindon. For those not keen on a full English there’s home made granola or poached eggs and smoked salmon.
The pub’s location is perfect for exploring all the Peak District has to offer. From the village down into the valley the Manifold Trail runs past Thor’s Cave. It’s a short but steep climb up to a seriously impressive cave with stunning views. The trail is also home to some great tea rooms and is brilliant for cycling. For day trips the towns of Leek and Ashbourne are worth a visit, both boasting excellent independent shops and cafes and the village of Hartington is very popular and just a short drive away. Alton Towers is only 8 miles away and there is a working steam train at Consall Forge.
