History

Charlie Ramsay founded SpeedyBooker in 2007 to support independent accommodation owners and activity providers through its high-quality technology and powerful marketing platform. Initially SpeedyBooker was the back-end system developed for UniversityRooms.com, and in 2008 the idea was conceived for a single platform supporting a network of separate websites, enabling each property/activity to advertise on multiple sites and enable cross-selling/more choice for customers.  SpeedyBooker is now a platform powering six of our own websites including BeachHuts.comBritainsFinest.co.ukFishPal.comMonasteries.com, and UniversityRooms.com and over 100 partner sites.  We now support over 10,000 hotels, B&Bs, hostels and holiday lets, beach huts, fisheries and tour guides.

Mission

Our mission is to delight our vendors (properties) by simplifying their business and maximising their revenue, whilst helping protect wildlife with every booking.


For customers, we want to inspire and empower people to experience the world in ways they wouldn’t be able to without us.  We achieve this through:

  1. innovating to support independent accommodation and activity providers, to get them additional bookings at lower cost, and to simplify their lives.  We do this through our family of niche websites (the SpeedyBooker Network) to suit their characteristics and help them stand out from the crowd, all centrally managed through one admin system.
  2. helping customers find interesting places at lower cost.  We don’t work with branded hotel chains, instead promoting independent, unique places with character.  We do this through our niche websites and filters to help you find your perfect accommodation or activity.  We save you money by promoting exclusive offers and loyalty rewards.
  3. making donations to environmental charities.  We give a small contribution from every booking (at no extra cost to you) to World Land Trust.  We also donate to charities that protect rare or endangered species and fragile ecosystems.  Last year, our donations exceeded £20,000.  By booking through any of our websites, you are contributing to this success story: thank you for your support.

Travel, accommodation and activity websites: partner with us!

Some helpful tips for increasing your bookings: it is all about the internet.

  1. The internet is the most powerful marketing channel in existence today – you can target customers that are looking for you and they can learn all about you in the click of a mouse. Make sure you are using a trustworthy and sophisticated online marketing partner.
  2. Make sure you don’t provide customers with too much information – this can be overwhelming – better to use less text and more photographs (of high quality) which are easier to absorb and quicker to view.
  3. Having found you, potential customers must be able to check availability and make their booking online. Often, they don’t want to pick up the phone (they are often at their desks and want to look like they are working!) or have to email (long-winded and labour-intensive). They want to know what is available, what it costs, and make the booking there and then.
  4. In this way, you don’t have to answer the phone the whole time and reply to emails – all you get is the booking confirmation by email and your availability is reduced on the website, by which time the money has already been paid electronically. Easy!
  5. Make sure you use a partner that gives you the control over your text, photographs, availability, and pricing via an administration system. You should also be able to login to see a full breakdown of your bookings. This gives you flexibility and control at all times.
  6. Most importantly, don’t use an online partner that charges any upfront costs or an annual fee: they won’t have an incentive to generate you as many bookings as possible. Instead, use one that works on commission, so they only get paid for what they deserve.
