The pub is located in the centre of the village. Views from the front stretch across the village to glorious views of grazing cattle on the downs and you can spot the village pond on the village green as well as the hills.
There are plentiful routes to go walking, a word from the wise; you must be able to cope with the constant inclines, as you can’t go a mile from here without walking up a hill! The local landscape offers beautiful viewing spots from Court Hill where from you can see the old Celtic field systems.
There is a vast cross-section of wildlife here, deer, pheasants, partridges, badgers as well too many rabbits! We’re especially lucky to be haven for Red Kites.
The building’s history is intertwined with that of the landscape, it’s built from classic Sussex flint and many of the Oak features inside are from trees felled in the local area 300 hundred years ago. Even the wood that fuels are fires is from the Goodwood estate supplied by a neighbour!
