Storia

The Laura Ashley Hotel The Belsfield in Windermere is a superb example of Victorian Italiante architecture, and is amongst the grandest Victorian Buildings on Lake Windermere. Built in 1845 as a private residence for the Baroness Von Sternberg, the house was acquired by the steel magnate Henry Schnieder in 1869 and converted to a hotel in 1892 and extended to provide additional bedrooms shortly before the First World War.

Guests have a choice of dining options including The Belsfield Restaurant which offers unrivalled, unique and spectacular views over Lake Windermere and the fells beyond.Or the Brasserie which is open from midday and has a relaxed menu of classic British dishes served in modern surroundings with views onto the terrace and over Lake Windermere. 

Relax in the bar which takes pride of place in the centre of the building creating a social and open plan area to meet, drink and relax.

The hotel has extensive grounds with outdoor seating to soak up the wonderful views of the lake. Relax on the garden terrace which benefits from one of the finest vistas in the Lake District, we think probably the world! Positioned high above Lake Windermere our uninterrupted view offers the most stunning location to enjoy an afternoon with lunch available from the Brasserie menu and afternoon tea and cakes for those who are just a little peckish.
