Storia

The house is full of history as it was originally owned by a wealthy merchant and his family.  It was also designed by William Leiper a very famous architect of the time.  It is full of architectural interest including beautiful stained glass by Guthrie Jnr and Cottier. 

Cibo & bevande

The hotel has developed a reputation for the quality of food and service.   The restaurant has been awarded 2 Rosettes from the AA for 5 years in a row and the quality of the dining experience was recently recognised by VisitScotland and was awarded a Thistle Award for Best Eating Experience in the West of Scotland.

The Restaurant

If you intend to dine with at the hotel please reserve your table in advance of a stay.

The restaurant is beautifully situated in an old wood-panelled room of the original house, with stained glass windows and a charming outlook over Loch Long.  It was once the old music room and family chapel and the original carvings still exist today as does the comforting original log fire. 

The restaurant is open to hotel guests and non-residents alike and offers dinner from 6.30- 9.00 pm daily, a traditional afternoon tea and light snacks over lunch.

The bar boasts a wide range of Scottish and International gins and malt whiskeys.  And as you might hope to match the delicious food, the hotel has a handpicked and selective wine list to choose from.
