An exciting new opportunity to be the first to stay in Brasenose College's newest building projects:

Frewin Garden Building has 30 single ensuite bedrooms and located in the heart of Oxford City Centre.

The other is a complete refurbishment of a Grade 1 Tudor mansion house, called Frewin Hall. This has 13 newly created Premium Ensuite bedrooms.

Frewin Garden build was completed in 2024, the eco-sustainable building is one of the newest Quads in Oxford and has won several awards including from Oxford Preservation Trust. It has a 'living roof', an eco-ground source heat pump and excellent insulation. It has interesting architectural details and is built on a site of historic interest; it also has it's own small central courtyard garden. 

Check-in and check-out (key collection and return) is to be carried out at the Porters Lodge on Brasenose College's Main Site (approx. 6 minute walk).

Entrance to Frewin Campus is via fob access using the large wrought iron gate (power assisted) on St Michael's Street, next door to The Oxford Union.

História

The campus is situated on the site of Oxford's lost college - St Mary's. This prior college was established in 1435 but fell into disrepair just 100 years later; it's demise was linked to the Dissolution of the Monasteries during King Henry VIII's reign.

There are other many other buildings of various ages within the campus, such as Frewin Hall, a Grade 1 Tudor mansion house, which has had a full restoration and refurbishment programme completed in September 2025; several Georgian buildings, newer accommodation dating to the 1960's and most recently the Frewin garden Building, a contemporary Eco-build with a living roof and ground-source heating; this was completed in 2024.

There is no catering on site, however the building is in the centre of Oxford so is surrounded by many eateries, including cafes, restaurants, Cornmarket Street, The Covered Market etc

If you book a signifant number (10 or above) of rooms together in a group booking, additional catering can be requested.

Tea and coffee facilities are provided in each bedroom.

A lower ground floor social space/ common room is also available to use during the stay.

Terrenos e jardins

The campus has various green spaces including a new Quad in front of Frewin Hall, a  terrace/ courtyard garden by Frewin Garden building and other areas including seasonal flower beds, shrubs, trees and borders, making a peaceful and attractive outside environment.

Overall it was great, especially the location, which was central, yet very peaceful. However the temperature in the room when I arrived was 30 degrees (as shown on the room thermostat) and it only dropped to 27 during the night, with the window open. With no air conditioning or a fan, it was very difficult to sleep. Given this is a new building I was surprised that summer heat had not been factored in to the design. The porter acknowledged that students also struggled with the heat at times.

We all 5 of us thought from the welcome by the porters to the housekeeping staff Frewin Hall is a great place to stay. Tucked away from the main streets and surrounded by attractive courtyards and gardens it was a tranquil setting and yet steps away from the busy streets of Oxford. The security was excellent for a group of ladies in their 80s. The rooms and en-suite well appointed with housekeeping looking after our teas and coffees top ups . We would unreservedly recommend staying here

Overall a good experience - the room was attractive and clean, with great tea and coffee making facilities. The small single bed in the middle of a large room was a little strange, and not really suitable for adults unless they are small! There was some annoying light pollution from a ceiling smoke detector. Housekeepers were enthusiastic, although one let herself into the room without knocking while I was getting ready...! Guests note - room is a 6 min walk from check in location.

I was unhappy with certain aspects of the service, but after raising it with the relevant team, the issues were resolved. Frewin court is slightly away from the main college, but every time I needed something from the porters at the main site (or the night porters at Frewin Court), they were amazing! I wasn't happy that breakfast wasn't included or that the room didn't have a mini-fridge, but I'm aware that not all colleges/locations can offer that.

Very clean accommodation, comfortable bed, beautiful secure grounds to enjoy, very quiet. Would like to have had a fan but window does open. Porter lodge staff so helpful, friendly and kind ( thank you for organising my taxi!) would definitely stay again.

I found the studio to be perfect and cosy, with all the facilities on hand. What’s more, I thought the location was excellent and peaceful. Finally, the value for money is outstanding.

Brasenose College is located on the north side of High Street very close to the city centre, and a 10-minute walk or a short taxi ride from the railway station.

Buses from London, Heathrow, Gatwick, and most local buses stop a short walk from the College at the Queens Lane bus stop on the High Street.

Whilst the College does not have any parking spaces available, all Park & Ride buses stop in close proximity to the College(city centre).
