Visão geral

Plas Gwyn Halls are located within the old Cathedral City of Llandaff, less than 5 minutes walk from the village, shops and Cathedral Green. The Cathedral Green has been used as a filming location for the Dr Who series.

Plas Gwyn is ideally situated to visit the city centre, many historic sites in and around Cardiff as well as the beautiful Welsh mountains and coastline. The city centre is a short walk along the Taff Trail or a bus ride away from where you can visit Cardiff Castle and the Millennium Stadium and shop in the old Victorian Arcades. Cardiff Bay, accessible by car or public transport, is where you will find many restaurants and cafés as well as the Millennium Centre and Norwegian Church.

All rooms are sold on a room only basis and are Single Ensuite in flats of 8 with access to a shared kitchen. All rooms are provided with bed linen and a towel on arrival.

Alimentos e bebidas

Each flat has a shared kitchen where you will find a microwave, fridge, oven and hob; however, you need to bring your own cutlery, crockery and pans.

There are pubs, cafés and restaurants within a 5-minute walk of the Campus in the village of Llandaff.

There is a small supermarket in the village, bear right on leaving the site and another one which is a 5 minutes walk, taking a left out of the site as well as a Tesco Extra 20 minutes walk away.

Terrenos e jardins

Plas Gwyn is situated close to the Taff Trail which is ideal for walking and cycling. The river runs alongside the trail which leads into the city centre to the West and up in to the Valleys to the East. This is a very pleasant and scenic walk and if walking into the centre you will pass the Swalec Cricket Ground and Cardiff Castle. Herons and otters can often be spotted in the water.

Car Parking is £2.00 per day Monday to Friday and 50p per day Saturday and Sunday, payable via Pay & Display machine located close to reception (bank cards only accepted).

Wifi internet access is available free of charge.

Freeview TVs are in all the kitchens.

On-site you will find an outdoor multi-use games area and a small lounge room with a TV. Please ask at reception if you wish to use any of these facilities.

Room was brand new and excellent ( maybe different when it has had a student occupying it ) Near parking for small charge. Good bus service into Cardiff centre Staff helpful and friendly. No meals available but plenty of restaurants in Cardiff. Very handy for Stadium, bus stops right outside.

An excellent stay. I was singing the services in the Cathedral over the weekend, so was out all day. My only minor quibble would be the water pressure in the shower, and the lack of a decent towel rail (I used the back of the chair). But the towel was more generous than most B&B's!

Fantastic place to stay for 2 nights for concert. Location was great. Short walk to pubs and restaurants. Bus stop outside takes you straight into city centre. Rooms very clean but was warm. We only used the kettle in kitchen. I would certainly use them again

The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the price was very fair. My only minor gripe was that there could have been minimal crockery and cutlery provided.

The switch to turn on the extractor fan and hot water is very high up. Anyone average height or below might struggle to reach it.

Arrival Information:

On arrival go to Main Reception in the main building to collect the keys - open 24 hours a day. Please return the key to the Main Reception on departure. There is a £40 charge for any keys not returned.

Location:

By car: Plas Gwyn Campus, Llantrisant Road, Cardiff, CF5 2XJ.

From M4 Travelling West:-

1. Take junction 29 onto A48 (M) Eastern Avenue. * Travel along the A48 for approx. 6 miles (Passing the University Hospital of Wales on your right). Go through traffic lights passing Tesco Extra on your left. Stay in the left-hand lane. Go under the footbridge and through the next set of lights and take the left-hand fork in the road signposted for Llandaff. Immediately get into the right-hand lane and take a right-hand turn at next lights. Go straight across next lights and stay on Cardiff Road for approx ¼ mile, take first left at the mini roundabout onto Llantrisant Road. Turn left into Plas Gwyn Campus immediately after the Pelican Crossing, then drive through the car park on your left and you will find Plas Gwyn at the end. From M4 Travelling East:-

At junction 30 (Cardiff Gate) take A4232 North Pentwyn link road to A48 (M). Join A48(M) towards Cardiff. Follow directions from * (above).

There is a pay and display car park at the Halls. Charges are £2 per day Monday-Friday and 50p per day Saturday and Sunday.

By Rail: If arriving by train you can take a bus directly from the station to the Halls - number 62 and ask for the old BBC studios. The bus stop is opposite the Halls on Llantrisant Road.
