历史

The house itself was once part of a coaching house and is where the owners lived with the upstairs rooms as guest rooms, just as it is now. When the house was sold off from the rest of the block it became a guest house in its own right and has been ever since. The house has been renovated and redecorated to reflect its history and style as well as being brought up to date with the requirments of modern living.

食品与饮料

Breakfast ingredients are sourced as locally as possible and include local butchers, fishmongers, coffee roasters and even a water powered flour mill. The choices on the breakfast menu reflect the fact that as much as possible is homemade.

Bread, jams, marmalades, granola and muesli are made in the kitchen as well as the cake offered on arrival and the in room treats. If it can be made here, it isn't bought form a supermarket.

The sausages, bacon and black pudding all come from a family butchers in Bamburgh and all the salmon and kippers are form a 100 year old fishmonger in Seahouses. Even the coffee is produced on Holy Island. Supporting local produce is a passion of ours and so only buy the best.

If your eating out are a number of excellent restaurants within 15 minutes of Belford and some good pubs in the village if your after standard fayre.

When the sun shines you might want to be outside in the courtyard or garden. Both areas have seating and tables to enjoy a relaxing drink in the fresh air and  sun. Or maybe just read a book and watch the sheep in the field on the other side of the wall. Whatever is your preference you can relax and enjoy the evening.

On the landing between the bedrooms you can help yourself to a glass of Lindisfarne mead for a little nightcap.

WiFi is available throughout Market Cross and has an 80Mb connection so there should be no problem using all your devices. There are two comfortable chairs in the dining area for those wanting a quiet read out of their room.

Situated in the centre of Belford village, Market Cross is an ideal base for exploring many of the outstanding attractions that the area has to offer: Lindisfarne (Holy Island), Bamburgh Castle, Alnwick Castle (location for the Harry Potter films), the Alnwick Garden, Cragside and many more.
