Aperçu

Located in the heart of Oxford, Rewley House offers 4-star campus accommodation in quiet Wellington Square. It is within walking distance of some of the city's oldest and most historical colleges and the University of Oxford's central administration office is 20 metres away.

A wide selection of accommodation is available, including single, twin, and double rooms, along with an apartment and a twin room with full disabled access. All rooms are en-suite and offer tea/coffee making facilities.

With a beautiful garden, Rewley House also offers a fully licensed bar and a shared kitchen. Other facilities offered at the property include conference/meeting facilities, luggage storage, and a vending machine. The restaurant is open daily for a full English or Continental breakfast buffet served from 08:00 until 09:30. Free WiFi access is available to guests throughout all accommodation buildings.

Rewley House is 300 metres from the Ashmolean Museum and a 10-minute walk from Oxford city centre.

Please note: Due to its central location, parking is not available on-site.

Common Room and bar

Rewley House Common Room overlooks a quiet, private courtyard. It has a fully licensed bar which is open daily from 8.30am, and serves sandwiches, cakes, hot drinks, soft drinks, beer, wine and spirits.

Dining facilities

A full meal service is available most days. Other functions such as formal dinners and receptions can be arranged.

Full English and Continental breakfast is served in the Dining Room from 8.00am to 9.30am daily.

Bedrooms

Rewley House is able to accommodate up to 70 guests in its facilities in Wellington Square in central Oxford. 

All bedrooms are decorated to a high standard; with a selection of single, double and twin accommodation. Each room has tea and coffee making facilities, Freeview television, and free WiFi. A coin-operated laundry is available. Please speak to reception for further details.

Wellington Square is a short walk to Oxford town centre and to the lovely neighbourhood of Jericho, where you will find a selection of restaurants and shops to suit most tastes and interests.

Visitors with Accessibility Requirements

There is a special access ramp and a self-contained bedroom suite on the ground floor, equipped for use by people with accesibility requirements with an adjoining room for carers. Two public disabled parking bays provided by Oxford City Council are situated on Wellington Square close to the Department.

Luggage storage

Rewley House is able to provide students and other guests staying in its accommodation in Wellington Square a location to store luggage only on their arrival and departure day, and it does not take responsibility for any loss, damage or theft.

Please note: Due to its central location, parking is not available on-site.

I’m generally happy with the room and experience. I do have the following comments / observations:. - The arrangement of the lift on the half landings compromises accessibility. - The top floor room had head height issues due to raking ceilings. - I couldn’t connect to the WiFi. - The common areas have a dreary institution feel, which I imagine is because the building is a halls of residence. Nonetheless a more engaging colour scheme and well-considered signage would help lift the aesthetics.

A very enjoyable stay. We found people working on reception very welcoming and helpful. The location of Rewley House was perfect for the wedding that we were attending. The self contained flat we stayed in was perfect for our requirements. It was very clean The only slightly negative point was that we found the lock getting into the accommodation quite a challenge. There was a definite knack. This was also true of the door leading to the outside space. Otherwise, really good indeed.

Very clean room, comfortable bed, spacious bathroom and convenient location. The low ceilings were not a problem for me but room definitely wouldn't suit a tall person! Only negative comment would be housekeeping knocking before 9 am. They were okay about coming back but would prefer not such an early disturbance. A minor negative for me but perhaps problem for others.

Staff on reception were very helpful and the lady serving at breakfast was friendly and welcoming. The only negative was that the bathroom bin had not been emptied before we arrived and there was an empty body wash bottle next to the shower.

Thank you for a very comfortable stay. The room had everything I needed and more - iron, hairdryer, shower gel and a fan which was great as it was very hot that night. Quiet and safe location in Central Oxford.

Very clean and comfortable room and bathroom. The TV remote did not work, but this was not a big deal because I could switch on the TV using the buttons to the side of the screen. Great location. Thank you.

 Directions to Rewley House

The Airline Bus Service:

This coach service provides a fast, direct route from the main London international airports to the centre of Oxford and is the most economical and efficient way to get to Rewley House upon your arrival in the UK.   The Oxford Airline Express Bus Service runs every 1/2 hour from Heathrow (terminals 1 – 5); additionally, this bus service also stops at Gatwick North and South Terminals approximately every 1-2 hours.  For maps of where to catch the bus, prices and other information, please visit: the airline - Oxford Bus Company and Thames Travel. If you have trouble finding the bus stop when you arrive at Heathrow or Gatwick airport, you can ask at the airport help desk and have them direct you to the relevant bus stop for the Oxford Airline Express Bus.

When you purchase your tickets from the driver, ensure that you specify that you need to go to the Gloucester Green Bus Station in Oxford which is the last stop on the route.  Once you arrive at Gloucester Green Bus Station, you can head for Rewley House by taxi or by walking.

Getting to Rewley House from Gloucester Green Bus Station:

Rewley House is located a short distance from Gloucester Green (approximately ¼ of a mile).  If you prefer to take a taxi, cars are usually available in Gloucester Green; ask the driver to take you to: Rewley House, 1 Wellington Square, Oxford OX1 2JA.  However, if you are not carrying too much luggage and the weather is nice you may prefer to walk. 

To walk to Rewley House, go though the Gloucester Green Market Square and turn left at Gloucester Street. This will take you to the intersection of Gloucester and Beaumont Street. Cross the road and walk straight ahead to St. John Street.  Rewley House is located at the end of St. John Street on the right-hand side you will see a sign out front welcoming you to the Department for Continuing Education. 

Getting to Rewley House from the Railway Station:

Leave Oxford train station and turn left on the main road (Hythe Bridge Street), then follow the road for about half a mile, the road will go over a small bridge. Turn left at the end of the road and follow the road to the traffic lights and turn right onto Beaumont street. Take your first left on to St John Street, walk to the end of St John street and you will find Rewley House, the last building on the right before you get to the square.

Parking

There are no car parking facilities at Rewley House. A limited number of metered street parking spaces are available in Wellington Square for short-term parking. If you require long-term parking please use the Park and Ride system
