Aperçu

If you are looking for a beautiful coastal escape in a traditional seaside holiday home, with far reaching views across the south bay of Scarborough, then this is the place to be!

School House is positioned on the southern side of this vibrant coastal town, having been lovingly renovated by owners Chris & Abigail.  Dating back to the 1862, the 3 bedroomed deceptively spacious and beautifully appointed home, is filled with charm and has all the convenience of modern living.

School House is set over three floors, bursting with character in the sunny seaside town of Scarborough. Perfect for a family holiday in summer or a rambler's retreat with friends or family in the cooler months. You will be in the centre of the action, just a few minutes' walk from the coast and town centre and close enough to the North York Moors National Park to enjoy days exploring this beautiful area of North Yorkshire on foot or 2 wheels.

The two beaches are a dream for picnics, sandcastle building, donkey rides, kite flying – or just staring out into the wild blue yonder!

School house is family friendly and accepts dogs. Parking on a permit basis is also available.

THE SPACE

As soon as you enter School House you gain a real nautical ambience. Tall Victorian windows fill the lounge with light, creating a relaxing airy space. Comfy sofas take centre stage, perfect for playing board games or simply relaxing after a day on the beach and a catch up on the day’s adventures. A smart TV complete with Netflix is available for guests use.

The kitchen is bright and well equipped, with chimney pot views out to the Bay and beyond! Furnished with a folding dining table and chairs, covering all practicalities and everything you need to enjoy breakfast, lunch, and supper!

Climb up the traditional staircase to the first floor and discover the first of the three bedrooms. This lovely room with expansive windows offering views across the traditional terraced street. With the comfiest of double beds and plenty of useful storage.  On the first floor you will also find the luxury family bathroom, complete with a stunning centrally positioned roll top bath, separate walk-in shower, sink and loo. The perfect space to relax after a busy beach day building sandcastles!

Up a further flight of stairs leads you to two more beautifully appointed and spacious bedrooms. The first of which is laid out with Twin beds and has further far-reaching views across the South Bay. The perfect view to wake up too; it’s hard to peel yourself away.

The third bedroom has a wonderful and super comfy king bed taking centre stage, adorned with the softest pillows and sumptuous duvet, it is the perfect place for a restful night’s sleep.

THE LOCAL AREA

If you are looking for a superb holiday destination at any time of year look no further than the Yorkshire coast. With 45 miles of spectacular Heritage coastline, where dramatic cliff tops give way to both secluded bays and vast award-winning sandy beaches, there is plenty of stunning scenery to enjoy.

Scarborough is an all-year-round coastal resort, with its busy fishing harbour and marina and a varied programme of events throughout the year. There are two sandy beaches, with a long promenade that links the two around the headland where the ruins of Scarborough Castle dominate the skyline. The 2,500-year-old building is a must-see for anyone visiting the area and a wonderful day out for everyone. Whatever the weather there are plenty of attractions to entertain the whole family such as the Sea Life Centre, Peasholm Park, the water park and sea front amusements. Traditional summer fun can be had with donkey rides on the south beach and both bays offer great surfing.

The thriving seaside town of Scarborough is one of the most popular tourist destinations due to its beautiful harbour, parks, gardens, and fine historic buildings. It is renowned for its magnificent castle which overlooks the town, and the gold beaches of the North Bay and South Bay.

Many well-known artists come to Scarborough to play at the Open-Air Theatre, the Scarborough Spa and the Stephen Joseph Theatre in the Round. There are also several festivals held during the year, which include the popular Seafest Maritime Festival and the Powerboats Grand Prix. Staying in a holiday cottage in Scarborough means you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to eating out. In addition to the various fish and chip restaurants, there is a great choice of cuisines from around the world. If you are looking for a bit of nightlife, the various pubs, bars and night clubs can keep you enjoying yourselves until the early hours.

Scarborough is well served by rail and bus networks. There is easy access up the coast towards Whitby, down the coast to Filey and Bridlington, and inland where the North York Moors is waiting to be discovered. For walkers and cyclists Scarborough lies on the Cleveland Way National Trail so you can take fabulous cliff top paths to Whitby and Filey. The town is also linked to Whitby and Pickering through the Moor to Sea Cycle Route which has 150 miles of quiet roads, forestry tracks and bridleways to enjoy.
