Unwind and connect with self and nature at Tallentire Hall.
Gamekeeper's Cottage in the South Wing of Tallentire Hall, which was built around 1590. The attached tower is believed to be from 1290, with the remainder of the Hall being built in 1863.
Tallentire Hall now sits in 11.5 acres of private grounds, with 9.5 acres open to guests to explore.
There have been home on this site since 1086 when the Manor of Tallentire was deeded to Odard son of Lyulph in the aftermath of the Norman Conquest.
Tallentire Hall previously had 4 farms and almost 600 acres of land as part of its estate, giving work to many in the local area. The farms are all still in existence but are now privately owned and no longer part of the estate. The greenhouses used to supply the estate with its fruit plants for the extensive gardens have been demolished, and the building converted to a private residence.
The cottage is self-catering with a well-equipped kitchen. There is a wide range of restaurants just 3 miles away in Cockermouth, a village pub in walking distance, with a further village pub just 3 miles away.
9.5 acres of private gardens and woodland to be explored without leaving Tallentire Hall.

From the M6 take junction 40 onto the A66 towards Keswick. Stay on the A66 until Cockermouth, then take the A595 Maryport. At the next roundabout turn left towards Maryport, and then first right following the sign for Tallentire.
On entering Tallentire there is a 90′ right hand bend. There will be a set of large stone gate posts on the left. This is Tallentire Hall.
Come down the drive and there is a turn to the left, follow this road round to the rear courtyard.
