Panoramica

Franklin House is between Alcuin College and the National STEM Learning Centre on York University Campus North, and is available for any visitors wanting to stay in the beautiful city of York

York is a city famous for the iconic York Minster, exquisite architecture, a tangle of quaint cobbled streets including The Shambles. Boutique shopping, a vibrant café and restaurant culture and world-class museums such as the National Railway Museum and the unique Jorvik Centre make York a wonderful place to visit.

York City Centre is about 15 minutes away by bus or car.

There is a mixture of double and single bedrooms with tea and coffee making facilities, TVs and an ensuite shower room, ideal for the business or leisure traveller. 

Please note that Franklin House do not accept stag or hen parties and reserves the right to remove you and your group from the site should you breach these Terms and Conditions.
 


Cibo & bevande

Although York city centre has lots to offer, there are also plenty of amenities on Franklin House’s doorstep.

Shops:

  • There is a small NISA supermarket on the University campus, and is a 5 minute walk from Franklin House. It offers all the essentials and is open 08:00- 21:00 on weekdays.
  • There is also a Co-op supermarket, which is a 20-minute walk from Franklin House, and has opening hours of 07:00-23:00.

  • Heslington village is only a 10 minute walk away, and has a great pub option - The Charles XII - www.greatukpubs.co.uk/charles-xii-york

Franklin House offers towels, linen, tea and coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, soap and a TV.

Special requirements/requests - If you need any further information or have any individual requests please make a note in the "Additional information" section of the booking form or call the telephone number noted on your booking receipt and the reception team will be happy to advise you further on what they can offer.

No Smoking - the campus buildings including bedrooms are strictly no smoking and a charge of £100 upwards will be levied to cover additional cleaning costs required to ensure the room is acceptable for the next guest.

Internet access -  There are two free WiFi connections available for visitors to campus - Eduroam for those visitors from other Universities; CityConnectWifi for all other visitors. Connection for CityConnectWifi is via a social media account or by completing a short web form.

Cashpoints – there are cash machines and a branch of Santander at Market Square

Gym and Sports facilities – there is a Sports Centre on campus,

Laundry - There are laundrettes on campus

Shops – There is a NISA available on campus at Market Square.

Pets - are not allowed in the accommodation with the exception of assistance dogs, please make a note in the 'Additional information' section of the booking form if this applies. 

Campus – The University is a community with many members of staff and students living on campus throughout the year. Please keep noise to a minimum between 11.00pm and 07.00am and show respect for other guests.

In general I was delighted with the room and it was great to "live" on campus again, if only for two nights. The two small things I'd criticise would be the 0930 "kick out" on Sunday morning. Be nice if this were put back slightly to 1030 or later, if poss. The other thing; it would've been nice to have a bit more milk and tea left in the room or else left in lounge on the top floor. I was really grateful you put me in a room far away from anyone else staying there. Led to a peaceful stay.

Having only one keycard for a double room would have been awkward, but luckily we arrived before reception at the centre next door had left for the weekend, and they were able to make us a second key card. However, I neglected to post one of the key cards in the red box, and had to leave it in the keysafe outside, as it would not let me reenter after 9:30 to get to the deposit box.

Room clean and tidy and great value if you are just looking for somewhere to sleep etc whilst visiting the city with friends. Have stayed in other uni rooms where there gas been a reception function which does give a friendlier experience. Bus instructions could be clearer for the return trip from York but that could have been our mistake when going to the wrong campus.

Really clear instructions om how to get into the room which was clean and comfortable, exactly what I needed. Niki Monoyiou was also very helpful providing instructions and arranging an earlier check in which was very much appreciated 👏

Excellant accommodation, easily booked and good instructions on where to park (Free during our stay) and how to get to the accommodation. would definitley use again if overnighting in York

You can check in to your room after 14:00 by collecting your keycard from one of the lockboxes located outside of Franklin House. You will be sent further details on how to access your keycard, including a code for the lockbox, via email closer to your stay.

Please post your room card in the red box at the entrance of Franklin House when you check out. 

The nearest parking to Franklin House is North Campus Car Park, Siwards Way which is a two minute walk away. Parking is £8 a day. You can pay by contactless card or the PayByPhone App. Parking is free Monday-Friday from 18:00-08:00, and is free at the weekends.

A fire evacuation leaflet is displayed in each bedroom and guests are asked to familiarise themselves with the exit route and assembly point in the case of a fire. 

Nearest railway station - York Railway Station.

The No.66 or 67 bus runs to/from campus every 10-15 minutes with a journey time of approximately 15 minutes depending on traffic.

A taxi to campus from the station takes c.15mins and costs approximately £8.00
