Panoramica

The accommodation is central to a new University community called Eddington which is part of the University’s expansion towards the north and west of Cambridge and is easily accessible to other parts of Cambridge.

Eddington is served by the U Bus that travels through the centre of Cambridge to the railway station and as far as Addenbrooke's Hospital.

Storia

On Saturday 14 October 2017, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge, Professor Stephen J Toope, and the Mistress of Girton College, Professor Susan J Smith, opened Swirles Court.

Swirles Court is named after Girton Alumna, Fellow and Benefactor, Dr Bertha Swirles (Lady Jeffreys); an influential mathematician and physicist, she is just one of seven Girton alumnae whose names are inscribed in the landscape at Eddington.

Cibo & bevande

Accommodation at Swirles Court are room only. Shared self catering kitchens are available to guests.

Dining facilities are availabe on the main Girton College site with the cafeteria serving breakfast, lunch and dinner and a social hub café bar serving hot drinks and snacks throughout the day and a bar in the evening. Girton College is cashless, debit or credit cards are accepted. 

Eddington central area has a hotel restaurant and cocktail bar, bakery and supermarket all within a few minutes walk of Swirles Court. 
 

Please note the cafeteria and social hub café bar on the Girton College main site are currently not open until 11am on a Sunday.

Terreni & Giardini

Swirles Court has enclosed garden courtyards with seating areas and is set within the Eddington parkland including walks, a lake, numerous cycle paths and public art.

Within 15 minutes walk Girton main site has free parking for guests, an indoor swimming pool and gym, chapel, prayer room, museum, tennis courts, dining facilities, woodland walks, garden walk, peoples portraits exhibition, social hub café bar.  

Please note to use the swimming pool at the main site there must be a minimum of two swimmers.

Swirles Court accommodation is on a room only basis. A shared kitchen is available which has a microwave, toaster, oven, and fridge. Tea and coffee making facilities are in the bedroom

Really enjoyed my stay - big, clean & modern room. Bathroom is really nice & bed is comfy. Swirles Court was really quiet and the surrounding area is nice to explore. Super easy to reach via the Universal bus. Big shout out the lovely on-site team, especially Cathy who was super helpful, friendly & welcoming. Thoroughly recommend.

Lovely and welcoming place. The room was clean and spacious. The kitchen was convenient - but just be aware that it doesn't have plates/cups/bowls/pots/pans/cutlery - so bring whatever you'd need for your cooking.
