历史

The current building began life as a hunting lodge in 1871 but there has been a home of some sort at Skeabost since Viking times when the name meant The Sheltered House. On an island in the river are the ruins of two small chapels associated with St Columba, the first Christian missionary to Scotland. Skeabost has its own chapel, now a stunning private dining room.

A Full Scottish Breakfast is included in the room price and is served between 7.30am and 9.30am (8 am and 10 am in the winter months) Monday – Sunday. Should a guest require breakfast out with these times, 12 hours notice is required. 

Served overlooking the loch or in the oak-panelled dining room, the finest of local produce is brought together with care and creativity.

Evening meals in ‘The West Pier’ offer a casual dining experience with an a la carte menu offering a range of delicious options to suit all tastes. This year also sees the introduction of a five-course tasting menu, turning every evening into a special occasion.

All menus are complemented by a superb range of wines. The hotel’s wine cellar is home to many different wines from around the world. In addition to the extensive wine offerings, the hotel also has a large range of malt whiskies and a vast selection of Scottish gins to be discovered.

Skeabost has a long history of being the perfect place for afternoon tea. With roaring log fires and delicious home baking, this is the perfect treat. Sunday lunch is another tradition when the weekend is celebrated with a hearty roast dinner.

Skeabost House Hotel on Skye offers its own golf course - a nine-hole, 18 tee shoreline challenge. The golf course is fun for the novice or expert alike. Clubs are available for hire.

The Snizort, one of the best rivers in Skye for sea trout and salmon, is available to guests and non-residents throughout the year (weather permitting), with the services of a ghillie if required.

Skeabost and its Sonas Hospitality sisters hotels, Duisdale and Toravaig in the south of the island are the only hotels in Scotland with their own luxury yacht, the 50 foot Solus a Chuain (Light of the Ocean). Between April and September, guests can experience an unforgettable day’s sailing around Skye and surrounding islands with a Champagne lunch on board.
