Sutherland House is a fascinating building, rich in history and now restored to offer a resplendent venue for drinks, meals, functions and fabulous rooms. Under the care of its owners Andy & Kinga Rudd, this fine building has been given a new lease of life and now offers a gorgeous environment with wood burning stoves, rich fabrics, lovingly prepared food and a warm welcome.
The bedrooms at Sutherland House Hotel are unlike any other in Southwold. The house dates from 1450, and many of the original features are still visible, with pargetted ceilings (c 1660), beams, original foot wide elm floorboards (c1450), fireplaces, and a medieval window. All of this historic fabric contrasts with the contemporary furnishings, zoffany fabrics and design classics, such as Le Corbuisier Chaise Longues and Eileen Grey coffee tables.
