Überblick

The Award Winning Highfield Hotel & Restaurant is ideally located in the beautiful Town of Keswick, quietly situated amongst other hotels & residential properties, with magnificent lake & mountain views and only a few minutes walk from the town centre and the popular Theatre by the lake.

All rooms have been thoughtfully restored to offer the highest quality hotel accommodation. There are 18 beautifully decorated bedrooms all en-suite; all bedrooms have colour TV & DVD players, radio alarm clocks, telephones and tea & coffee facilities. The hotel has its own private car park. Highfield Hotel & Restaurant is a non-smoking establishment.

The Award Winning Restaurant at Highfield has great views and was recognised in “The Times” newspaper (Squaremeal.co.uk) during May 2007 as one of the UK’s Top Ten most Scenic Restaurants.

The Restaurant has been awarded a Visit England Breakfast Award and for culinary excellence & service two coveted AA Rosettes; Highfield is the only restaurant or hotel in the town of Keswick to hold two coveted AA Rosettes. The Dinner menu changes daily and is imaginatively prepared using the best fresh local produce with choices on all courses.

Geschichte

History of the Highfield Hotel in Keswick

Highfield hotel in Keswick was built in the late 1880’s as two private residences using local Borrowdale slate from only a few miles away. Beautifully proportioned and ideally situated to take advantage of the magnificent lake and mountain views. The Highfield Restaurant has great views and was recognised in “The Times” newspaper (by Squaremeal.co.uk) during May 2007 as one of the UK’s Top Ten most Scenic Restaurants.

The hotel incorporates many historically features for which the Victorians were famous – balconies, turrets, bay windows, a veranda for your pre-dinner drink and even a converted chapel which is now a guest room "The Woodford Room". The hotel has been thoughtfully restored and refurbished to offer the highest quality accommodation yet still maintain the original homely feeling. There is complementary Internet access available for guests use. (Please note that Highfield hotel and restaurant is fully non-smoking).

Highfield is family owned and personally supervised by owners Howard & Caroline Speck, they are supported by a great team of people who's passion for customer service is evident the moment you walk in the door.

Our goal is to provide food of the highest standard, combined with attentive service, in an informal friendly atmosphere. The award winning restaurant at Highfield has an International team of chefs, and the accolades include a Visit England Breakfast Award and Two coveted AA Rosettes. Highfield is the only hotel or restaurant within the town of Keswick to hold Two coveted AA Rosettes.

The dinner menu changes daily and is imaginatively prepared using the very best of fresh seasonal local produce. We do cater for Vegetarians and can accommodate guests with specific dietary requirements by prior arrangement.

Dinner is served between 6.30 pm & 8.30 pm (last orders).

Arrival / Departure Times: Day of arrival rooms will be available from 2 p.m. Check out is by 10.30am. Dinner is served from 6.30p.m until 8.30 p.m (last orders)

Highfield is located in Keswick, Cumbria in the heart of the Northern Lake District. The hotel is situated near to the town centre yet within 5 minutes walk of the lake, Derwentwater and the theatre by the lake. Keswick is an ideal base for touring the Lake District

From the M6 Motorway: Take the A66 West, sign posted Keswick, for about 17 miles. As you approach Keswick, ignore the first signs from the A66 and go on to the second which is at a roundabout. Turn left at the roundabout and go to the end of the road turn left at the T-junction follow the road over the bridge and then turn right at the mini-roundabout, signposted 'Borrowdale'. Follow this road round to the left and you will see The Heads shortly on your right.

For the car park, immediately after you turn into The Heads, turn right again behind

The Hazeldene Hotel and keep going up the lane until you see the sign on the right

for the Highfield car park.

From the Central Lakes: You will be coming into Keswick on the A591 down a steep hill. Follow the road into the town until you reach the mini-roundabout. Turn left right at the mini-roundabout, signposted 'Borrowdale'. Follow this road round to the left and you will see The Heads shortly on your right. For the car park turn into The Heads, turn right again behind the Hazeldene Hotel and keep going until you see the sign for our car park.

By Public Transport: There is a daily coach service to Keswick and we are just a few minutes walk from the local bus station. The nearest railway station is Penrith (17 miles) with a regular bus service to Keswick. Alternatively we can arrange a taxi for you.
