Overview

The hotel is conveniently located with town centre shops on the doorstep, just a short walk to local history and attractions such as Shrewsbury Castle, Rowley's House Museum and Shrewsbury Abbey with Wroxeter Roman City a short drive away.

We have live entertainment on 4 nights of the week, Open Jam on Monday, Quiz Night on Wednesday, live bands every Friday and Karaoke on Sundays along with Comedy Club on the last Sunday of each month. We thrive on a lively and busy atmosphere, especially at the weekend.

Shrewsbury boasts extraordinary scenery, fantastic architecture and hundreds of years of history. At night you can find theatres, cinemas, excellent restaurants, wine bars, cocktail bars, pubs and clubs. Shrewsbury has something for everybody, with The Old Post Office conveniently situated in the centre of it all!

The Old Post Office is a traditional family pub. We serve an excellent menu throughout the day. For more information on accommodation please click on the link.

The Old Post Office dates from the 16th Century and is the last of 5 public houses that were licensed in Milk Street. The others were The Angel, The Beehive, The Mug House and The Sun Tavern. The Old Post Office has kept the same name throughout it's history. The has nothing to do with The Royal Mail, but refers to a posting house horse-drawn coaches and as late as 1900 there was stabling for thirteen horses. Wagons to Lyth Hill, Condover, Ryton and Wheathall would depart the inn on Wednesdays and Saturdays of each week.

The pub currently has six b&b rooms and a function room which is available for private parties as well as playing host to a variety of live music events. The building is Grade II Listed and many features of the original building still remain. The pub maintains it's reputation for excellence with a wide range of traditional cask ales and home-cooked food.
Parking is available close by from £4 per 24hrs.
