Overview

Beggars Reach Hotel was once in the past the village rectory but is now a 3-star hotel with 30 delightful ensuite rooms, a bar and restaurants. The hotel has 9 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens and is a perfect scene for weddings, gatherings or only a relaxing break.

Close to the Pembrokeshire coastal path, the cleddau estuary and the city of St Davids. An ideal location for exploring West Wales centrally located near to Milford Haven, Haverfordwest and Pembroke.

Beggars Reach is set in a pretty and tranquil spot near the boating village of Burton and close to Pembrokeshire National Park.

History

The hotel was formerly the Rectory for the village of Burton and parts of the annexe date back to the early 13th Century. It was the home for several clergies from the late 1700's and up until the 1970's when it was sold by the church and made into a hotel. The current owners purchased it in 1999 when it had 9 bedrooms and a small restaurant. Just last year, during a wedding, the brides' train caught under the stairs cupboard to reveal a piece of wood which uncovered that the stairs had been made of old packing cases and the lovely calligraphy handwritten on them belonged to the former owner, Rev John Brigstocke with the date 1791. The hotel name relates to a stretch of the River Cleddau which is close by and is known as "beggars reach".

Food & beverage

Breakfast is served in Anna's Restaurant from 7.00am - 9.00am Monday to Friday and 8.00am - 9.00am Weekends. Guests are able to help themselves to a good selection of juices, yoghurts, fruits and cereals followed by waitress service for a choice of eggs, cooked to guests liking, full Welsh breakfast, porridge, haddock or continental. A selection of teas and coffees are also available. The bright and airy Garden Restaurant has lovely views over the hotel grounds and a terrace overlooking the Pembrokeshire Countryside. The hotel has a reputation for excellent quality cuisine which is a mixture of British and International dishes prepared by a team of talented chefs.

Grounds & Gardens

With 9 acres of attractively landscaped gardens overlooking farmland and the Pembrokeshire countryside, stones reclaimed from an original tumbledown building in the grounds have been re-used to make stone steps, garden beds and areas of interest. The gardens have several terraces and seating areas where guests can enjoy afternoon tea, indulge in a glass of wine or simply soak up the views and the peace and quiet.

Other facilities

Relax in the small cosy bar and lounge with a range of drinks and a wine list to suit most palates and pockets. All rooms have flat-screen TV's with Freeview, hairdryers, iron and ironing board.  Many of the rooms have garden views and the Pembrokeshire countryside.
